Can the Twins win a championship this year? And if so, what do they have to do?

I think it's highly unlikely that the Twins have a realistic chance to win it all. They would need quite a bit to fall into place, in my opinion. They would need Delmon Young, Carlos Gomez and Alexi Casilla to have breakout seasons and be extremely productive, Mauer and Morneau to maintain their high level of play, get solid play from Cuddyer, Kubel, a Buscher/Harris platoon, and they'd need Punto to be average. I think Perkins and Blackburn will take a step back this year in terms of ERA and Wins, since neither has great stuff.

Here's what I think would need to happen for the Twins to even compete for a World Championship:

-Get lucky with a few bargain Free Agents. Signing Crede and Gagne (Who's apparently no longer an option) and have them both perform close to their career years, which is doubtful at this point.

-The Youngsters need to take another step in the right direction, and DY and CarGo need to excel.

-Guerrier, Crain, Mijares all need to be at least solid.

-Liriano needs to be lights out.

All of those things theoretically coud happen, but as you can see it would take a LOT for all of them to fall into place. But, I hope come playoff time I'm wrong and the Twins remain in the hunt.
