The Cubs were down 3-1 until Derek Lee and Ramirez smacked back-to-back jacks in the seventh.

The White Sox can look at one glaring statistic -- 16 men left on base. Another number they won't like is that the Cubs have won six of the past seven games between the two teams.

e missed opportunities.

Chicago loaded the bases in the fifth inning but got only one measly run. Derek Lee struck out and Aramis Ramirez flew out to end the inning. The Cubs need better production from the heart of their lineup than they've gotten against the Rays. Lee went hitless after doing the same Tuesday.

Take Derek Lee of the Chicago Cubs as a recent example. He missed a significant portion of the 2006 season after having surgery on his wrist. Though he returned to hit .317 the next season in 150 games, his power was greatly diminished and he only hit 6 home runs in the first half. It is probably safe to assume that IF David Ortiz returns, it will not be the David Ortiz that we have become accustomed to over the last few years.

st and Fukudome hitting second.  In the first inning, Fukudome walked and was on the ride with Derek Lee's 11th home run of the year.  Lee is 6 for his last 13.  Soto added an RBI double later in the inning and the Cubs were up to an early lead 3-0.  But the Cubs were never able to scratch out any more runs against Astros starter Chacon as he settled down.  At one point, he reitred ten Cubs in a row.

After another game where stranding base-runners has become a common theme, what Lou Piniella had the right words to sum up the Cubs recent slide, "Like I told my guys after the ballgame, make the other team beat you, don't just give it to them," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "You play like that and you're going to lose quite a few of them, or most of them. Anyway, it's over with. Done."
