peared to have in hand, and loss in extra innings, 5-4 to the inept Royals.

On Monday, new father Glen Perkins pitched one of the best games of his life and the Twins shut out the Yankees, 4-0. It was the first time the team had shut out the Yankees at the Metrodome since June 24, 1996.

young starters continue their string of good performances while the bullpen has been solid.

Glen Perkins improved his record to 8-3 while his ERA went up to 4.20 during a not-so-great performance. But the pen propped him up, allowing just a run in three innings. The big news over the weekend involved pitching. Glen Perkins was optioned to the minors, Liriano pitched four shutout innings and kept some hope of being on the major league roster alive.

And today the Twins signed Joe Nathan to a four year forty-five million dollar deal with an option for a fifth year. That should guaruntee that the Twins bullpen remains among the best in baseball.
