Joe Mauer's hit tied the game in the seventh with Jason Kubel up. Yup, he followed in Morneau's footsteps with a three-run jack of his own. The Twins scored a few more in the eighth and that was that.

Morneau hit a double to plate Casilla, and Jason Kubel knocked Morneau in with a single.

Matt Guerrier and Joe Nathan were fine in the bullpen, but Dennys Reyes allowed a run. The pen hasn't been quite as strong as in recent years.

leadshrink bit by bit.

Not to worry.  The Twins loaded the bases and with a swing of the bat Jason Kubel put the game on ice. It was the big hit the twins have been searching for in vain so far this season, only the team's fourth homerun of the year. But as Kubel rounded the bases with a drand slam and Twins fans watching on TV indulged in a "Sit down, Sox" moment, it couldn't help but make you feel that if the starting pitching holds up and the offense produces more nights like this, this season just might be a lot of fun.
