nd Denard Span was two for four with two runs.

Lost in the offensive shuffle was a good outing by Livan Hernandez, who must hear the creeping footsteps of Francisco Liriano in the minor leagues.  He allowed only five hits and two runs, both earned, in seven innings. (Still, his ERA is the highest among the starters at 5.29, though his record is a healthy 10-6.

Hot team, meet hot pitcher. The hot team was cooled off.

Livan Hernandez didn't pitch horribly, allowing four earned runs in seven innings. At least the heart of the bullpen got rested. Boof Bonser's OK when you have him pitch in a blowout. Manager Ron Gardenhire hasn't used him in any close games lately.

o fell behind 3-0 but came back to defeat Brandon Webb, one of the best pitchers in the the league. Livan Hernandez, now 8-4, was the beneficiary of the Twins' comeback. Webb fell to 11-4.

Justin Morneau added a homerun to increase the Twins lead, While Livan Hernandez confused Royals hitters, and dissension broKe out amongst the Cylon elite. Cavil's plan to re-configure and lobotomize the raiders was opposed by D'Anna. A vote ended in a tie, until, the Cylon nicknamed Boomer switched her vote, against her own type, and sided with Cavil.

be the most dynamic lead-off hitter the Twins have ever had.

*The starting pitching held its own. Livan Hernandez is just as advertised, a veteran who knows how to keep hitters off-balance and should throw into the sixth or seventh inning pretty much every game. Scott Baker, Nick Blackburn, and Boof Bonser all pitched well, but too often found themselves behind early in the game.

Slow, slower, and slowest. Those were the speeds on Livan Hernandez pitches, and it was good enough to keep the Angels hitters off-balence and give up only two runs in seven innings pitched. Meanwhile, the offense, played small ball. Led by Carlos Gomez' two hits, two steals, and two runs scored, they produced just enough to pull off a 3 - 2 victory on Opening Night in Minneapolis.

They're for the most part young and inexperienced, and the one veteran, Livan Hernandez, may be past his prime. On the other hand, the bullpen is all pluses, and Joe Nathan and Pat Neshek are among the very best at what they do.

pitcher in the starting rotation old enough to shave more than once a week, the Twins have signed Livan Hernandez to a one-year, 5 million dollar deal. In a free-agent market that includes little in the way of first-rate pitchers, Hernandez could be the best the Twins could do in this off-season.
