Did it all hinge on one play -- Torii Hunter's misplay in center field, ruled a triple, that put Nick Punto on third?

Was it the Twins' bullpen, which didn't have to put in someone as woeful as Justin Speier in? The Twins' bullpen was great, with Joe Nathan getting the save after strong stints by Matt Guerrier and Jessie Crain.

Denard Span, Nick Punto and Delmon Young had two hits apiece. Young has been on a hot streak and boosted his average to .292.

The Twins have rebounded from an awful series in Seattle when they blew two leads and lost two of three to the woeful Mariners. They're six of eight since then, including two of three against the Yankees.

Mauer was three for four with a run and two RBIs, while Nick Punto, Brendan Harris and Delmon Young had two hits.

Scott Baker didn't have a great outing, but it was good enough. Nor was the bullpen perfect, but it was up to the task.

The game was odd statistically. Six Twins players had no hits, yet Nick Punto went three for four with two runs and Denard Span was four for four with two runs and an RBI.

The bullpen had a great game, making up for a poor start by Kevin Slowey, who allowed six runs in three and two-thirds innings. The pen allowed no runs in seven and one-third innings. The winner was Matt Guerrier, who lost the second game in Fenway Park -- when the Twins were up three runs.

Second Base: Second base has so far been a shared position with Brendan Harris,  Nick Punto and Alexis Casilla getting playtime. Nothing has happened that would change expectations that harris will start, Punto will be the utility infielder, and Casilla will start the season in the minors.
